The Cathedral Basilica of the Sacred Heart, the mother church for the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Newark, strives to be a model and beacon of worship, fellowship, and service, with the celebration of the Sacred Mysteries central to its identity. The parish community of the Cathedral Basilica is devoted to service within and beyond itself, as it strives to deepen its own commitment to the Lord and to announce the Good News of salvation in Christ.

The mission of the Cathedral Music Ministry is to lead and uplift the community in sung prayer by way of embracing of the assembly's call to full, conscious, and active participation. While affirming and celebrating the unique diversity of our community, the program acknowledges the Church's rich heritage of music, and strives to complement it with the vast resources of music from the current day.
