Thursday of the 2nd Week of Lent

Thursday of the Second Week of Lent (March 20)

  • Readings:

    • First Reading: Jeremiah 17:5–10

    • Psalm: 1:1–2, 3, 4, 6

    • Gospel: Luke 16:19–31

  1. Reflection
Jeremiah contrasts trusting in human strength with trusting in God, showing that those who place their hope in the Lord are like a tree planted by the water. In the parable of the rich man and Lazarus, Jesus teaches the urgency of conversion and compassion toward those in need. Recognizing Christ’s presence in those who suffer makes us fruitful before God. In Lent, consider where you place your trust and how you respond to the suffering of others.
