Reflection
Laetare Sunday invites us to rejoice amid Lent. In the reading from Joshua, Israel celebrates Passover in the Promised Land, a sign of God’s faithfulness. Paul reminds us that through Christ we are a new creation, entrusted with the ministry of reconciliation. The Gospel parable of the Prodigal Son shows the Father’s overwhelming mercy toward both the wayward child and the self-righteous brother. As we journey through Lent, take heart in God’s joyful welcome of our repentance. Let us rejoice that we have a Father who always waits for us with open arms.
