Wednesday of Holy Week

Readings:

  • First Reading: Isaiah 50:4–9a

  • Psalm: 69(68):8–10, 21–22, 31–33

  • Gospel: Matthew 26:14–25

Reflection
The figure of the “Servant of the Lord” in Isaiah foretells a suffering Messiah, yet steadfast in the Father’s will. In the Gospel, Judas finalizes the betrayal for thirty pieces of silver. This day is traditionally called “Spy Wednesday.” Examine: Where do I seek security? In faithfulness to God or in “silver coins” (be they material goods, personal interests, or status) that I might unjustly prioritize? May we choose to remain with Christ, the suffering and obedient Servant.
